Positive Feedback at NoPassport Theater Conference

Positive Feedback, an arts and climate science consortium led by Columbia University (Earth Institute – including CRED!), New York University (Center for Creative Research) and the City University of New York (Institute for Sustainable Cities) will participate in a panel at the upcoming NoPassport Theatre Conference on March 7th at the Jerry H. 7th annual NoPe – NoPassport Theatre Conference

DREAMING THE AMERICAS:

STAGING NEW THEATERS/CHALLENING HIERARCHIES

NoPassport and NYU Gallatin School for Individualized Study present a free one-day theatre conference initiated and curated by Caridad Svich (2012 OBIE for Lifetime Achievement) and co-curated by Sharon Friedman and Kristin Horton (faculty, NYU Gallatin) exploring the intersection between art and late capitalism, and the power of imagining new models for theatre action and social change on March 1, 2013 from 10 AM-8:45 PM at the Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts (1 Washington Place).  Keynote speaker will be Todd London, Artistic Director of New Dramatists. Opening Remarks by John Clinton Eisner, Artistic Director of Lark Play Development Center.  The conference features a special US premiere performance of The Other Side of the Coin from UK’s Signdance Collective International, Europe’s only international touring signdance theatre music company.

Among those moderating panels and taking part in the conference will be Seth Baum, PhD, (research scientist, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Global Catastrophic Risk Institute, Co-Founder, Osmocene Productions), Polly Carl (Editor, Howlround), Steve Cosson (Founding Artistic Director, The Civilians), Jorge Ignacio Cortinas (theatre artist/Fulcrum Theater), Migdalia Cruz (Playwright), Brian Herrera (Princeton University), Oliver Mayer (USC), Matthew Paul Olmos (Playwright), Jeremy Pickard(director, playwright, Captain, Superhero Clubhouse), Lisa Phillips (Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, Earth Institute, Columbia University & Positive Feedback), Ken Prestininzi (Brown University), Saviana Stanescu (IASNY), Dana Whitco (Institute for Performing Arts, NYU & Postive Feedback), Patricia Ybarra (Brown University) and a distinguished roster of artists & scholars.

A special free pre-conference event will be held on February 28, 2013 at 6 PM at the Drama Book Shop (250 West 40th Street) when NoPassport Press will present a book reading and signing of Todd London’s and launch publication of his book The Importance of Staying Earnest: Writings from Inside the American Theatre 1988-2013.
