CRED Participates in WHO Workshop on Public Health Adaptation in Africa

Derek Willis, EI Fellow, and Barbara Platzer, CRED Assistant Director, participated in a workshop led by WHO-Tropical Disease Research (TDR) on the “Assessment of Research Needs for Public Health Adaptation to Social, Environmental and Climate Change Impacts on Vector-Borne Diseases in Africa” held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from February 27-29. The workshop, funded by the Canadian International Development Research Center, brought together experts and key regional stakeholders from the public health community, as well as the climate, environmental and social sciences, to assess priority research needs regarding adaptation to vector-borne diseases in Africa. They were joined by colleagues at IRI, Madeleine Thomson and Pietro Ceccato, as well as CIESIN’s Sylwia Trzaska.
